G3K Build?

I dont do Facebook. I sent him a PM yesterday, he may stop by for a visit some time soon.

ETA: RCM says they have more barrels coming soon. I may go that route if the builder I find is willing to finish a GewehrWerks reciever.

Spoke to Jeff today. Seems like a nice guy. He told me all about the receiver I bought from a not-so-nice guy.

To be honest this isn't the first time my impulsive nature, my failure to do my homework, my lack of due diligence, has bit a huge chunk out of my ass!

what happened? Can it be salvaged?
Dont beat yourself up over it… I have done worst!
I threaded a USC barrel…. Right over the HK Logo!
And thats the least embarrassing one!

The kit I'm buying comes with a Gewehr Werks receiver. Evidently these receivers have a poor reputation. PCS wont build them. I was exchanging texts with a friend who heard ARS wont build them either. Gewehr Werks gimmick was to bend the flat but not weld it. Presumably so they (GW) could argue that the weld was the problem, not the receiver.
I clearly leapt into this kit purchase too quickly. Certainly didn't ask enough questions. Looking at some "cost over-runs" now.
Sarco is out of PTR receivers again. Had them yesterday :LOL:

My kit arrived today.

The GewehrWerks receiver has serious issues but I've ordered a PTR so its a moot point. Pisses me off that the seller knew this. Pisses me off more that I didn't ask.
I couldn't do that to someone.
Otherwise I'm fairly pleased. All the parts appear to be new and unissued. Bolt carrier, head, barrel, trunion, cocking tube, two beautiful SEF housings, pins, springs, sights etc.
Going to have to modify the trigger box. The triple frame is weird, it's T shaped. Also want to do the fake pin mod to the trigger housing.

Come on RCM. Daddy needs a barrel.

I'm going to have GhillieBear build it. I've got 9 US parts if I use the buttstock. I think a good homebuilder with the proper tooling could probably make that GW receiver work. Any bonehead can build an AR (me) but it takes some skills to build HKs and FALs.
 
So I know it's going to be many months before this gun is finished but I couldn't stand it this morning and assembled the bolt.
Installed the rollers and put everything together. Bolt head is stamped FMP 4/95. I'd post a picture but, well, you've seen a bolt before.
Baby steps.

ETA: I should have waited a couple days. Have the K specific locking pice on the way.

FYI:
Just because it is LISTED as a "K specific locking Piece" does not mean it will fun in your Gun/Barrel/Headspace/Ammo.
Best to put it together and see what happens.
You may need 5-10 degrees more or less.

Just saying. . . .
 
What effect does an incorrect LP have on the function of an HK style firearm?

Anyway, I have a new, standard G3 LP and now I have the K piece coming. I assume PCS will test fire the build before they ship it back to me? I'm sure they'll get it right.
Also got a "Your Order Has Shipped" email from Sarco. WooHoo!!

Yes sir we built 100 of these G3k . Matter of fact we were the ones that pulled our factory G3K barrel and sent it to RCM so they could get proper measurements. From our post sample factory gun. It's best to build it the proper way and use the proper locking pieces and part too many people like to Hodge podge these guns together. The German spent a lot of money in time and research making sure that their weapon was properly made we also testfire the guns before you receive it sir they are an awesome build..
 
So back to my question about LP's. What does use of an incorrect LP cause? Ejection problems? Feed problems?, Battery problems?

Sarcoptic mange?

Crop Circles?

Yellow spots in my lawn?

I'm just curious.
