HK's last hunting rifle... the SLB 2000

A couple years ago I bought an slb 2000 30 06 carbine new in the box. I scoped it up and was going to use it this year hunting whitetails. Should I shoot it or leave it unfired. Does anyone have a value on it . I bought it because I had never seen one and like the looks of it.thanks for the help

Welcome to the site. :)
Leave it unfired--- not many have sold within the past year--- in that condition, I would estimate $1,500.00-$2,000.00. ;)
Here is an interesting successor--- the SR1: :sneaky:

Some information on the Series: :giggle:

a) SLB (“Selbstladebüchse”- self-loading rifle); introduced October, 2000; U.S. importation 2001-2003; HK sold design to Merkel Jagd- und Sportwaffen GmbH of Suhl, Germany, and marketed as the Merkel SR1 (redesigned)(liquidated to CDNN and sold in 2008-2009) and the Haenel SLB 2000+ (same design- never released in the U.S.)

Thanks for the info, I was thinking the same on the value. I've done some research on it . But there's not alot of info out there. I'll probably leave it in the safe.i was thinking of trading it. its a little beefy for my liking but most well made weapons are

Hello everyone,

Have any of you experienced ejection problems with the SLB 2000+ chambered in .308 Win?

During recent testing with Geco Express .308 ammunition I fired 9 rounds. On one or two occasions the spent cartridge failed to eject and remained in the ejection port. The next live round then struck the retained case, causing a collision and a subsequent jam.

Details:
  • Rifle: SLB 2000+ (.308 Win)
  • Ammunition: Geco Express .308 Win
  • Test fire: 9 rounds fired, 1–2 failures to eject
  • Symptom: Spent case remains in ejection port; next full cartridge impacts it and weapon jams

Has anyone seen this behaviour before or can suggest likely causes / troubleshooting steps (e.g., extractor, ejector, gas system, headspace, ammo lot variation)? Any recommendations for tests or fixes would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Klavs (Latvia)

First place I'd look....ammunition.
Second place I'd look....magazine
Third......extractor

Originally, my father shot with a Sako Super Hammerhead 308, but as I mentioned, I shoot with a Geco Express. The gunsmith also says that the bullets need to be changed, but I find it very interesting that the bullets change the semi-automatic action so much.

Does anyone know where I can order spare parts for this weapon?

Also, do you completely disassemble the weapon every time to clean it after hunting?
