Completed and submitted form and payed on 02/01/2022.
Prints mailed on 02/01/2022 USPS priority
Will advise as progress is made

Building another AR SBR - nothing special

They are at 60+ days backlog after talking to support, not the advertised sub 30 day turn 😒.

FWIW I submitted 2 form 1s back on 12-15-21 and prints were recieved on 12-22-21.

Also my next form 1 or 4 will be completely electronic including prints. It was hard to find a provider that provides the service but I "got -r-done". I hopefully will never pay for fingerprint cards again.

yeah, I didn't bother with SBR'ing my AR pistol.........I just went to HOME DEPOT and bought thick pipe insulation tube for less than 2 bucks, slipped over the buffer tube for my cheek to rest on. . 😁

D@mn....60 days?

So when you have digital prints where in the process do you upload them?
You are supposed to load them in the section labeled "Responsible Person", but it looks like it has been disabled for form1 submissions no matter how its submitted i.e. as INDIVIDUAL or TRUST. Also the file types they accept in the "Electronic Documents" section has been limited so a small set of file types which do not seem to include EFT files which is where you could add or delete files in the submission previously. Its most likely due to issues they have been having with the system.

It looks like form4 submissions for both INDIVIDUALs and TRUSTs will let you upload the EFT file as per the video tutorial they provided.

I did do a test form4 that I did not submit in order to validate my EFT file. The system will tell you if your EFT file is a valid fingerprint file once its uploaded.

Here is the link to the tutorial they sent out a while back in case you missed it.

That 60 day backlog is coming from Capitol Armory, who are manually e-filing the new eForm 4and Silencer Shop who is having their dealers eFile in conjunction with the buyer (recipient) of the eForm 4. Si Shop will shortly become the largest filer due to their rollout of the all-online process. They were holding all of their silencer purchases after Dec 4th for eFile unless the customer specified paper.

I bought a can Dec 10th an they sent the electronic forms (Form 4, digital photo, digital prints and RPQ) for my trust to the dealer last week. First try crapped out, 2nd try went through as of Jan 24th. It was strange; both of us logged into some app they use where we could both manipulate the cursor to “certify” the application.

Edited to add: You can only certify remotely with your dealer in another location if filing using a trust. If it’s an individual application, you must go in person to your dealer where you both certify on the dealers computer.

Don’t ask me why, I only work here! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well I guess that validates my thought as I was going through the process. "Wonder if this new way is gonna be log jammed because a bunch of applications being done all at once". Thanks Silencer shop....I know I get it, its new and if I was getting a new suppressor I would want em to try to expedite mine too🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Just got one of my two pending form1's approved this AM. It definately took more than my last form1 which took around 21 days early last year. This one took slightly less than the quoted 60 day backlog I reported previously as its took 50 days. I expect my other one submitted at the same time to come back today or tomorrow 👍

@MSOGDAWG {not to highjack your thread} ;) but just curious. The last time I filed a form, I had to do prints. Is there
a way to do this digitally rather than the whole, going to the PD, rolling your fingers in ink, and mailing off the cards, from like
the 1930's ?

If there is, please advise. I've got a few on my list and would rather forgo that whole process.

Cheers!!!!!!!

I was wondering if the NFA branch accepts a scan of the fingerprint card
No they do not

You can go to places that do live scan fingerprints as well as most PDs (PDs typically make you bring a card(s) to use for printing the cards as they don't provide them for free) and they capture your prints digitally and print you a card without inking your digits old school.

Some places will even offer EFT services when they print you for an extra fee.

#####

There are NO restrictions on printing yourself old school style, just that the identifying info is complete and the prints are all there and legible.

I can dig up the link to the FBI guidelines for fingerprinting if anyone wants or needs them.

Thanks Homie!!!!!

ATF used to be picky about the cards used as well. I got around it by having Silencer Shop take my electronic prints using their kiosk when there was a BOGO sale a few years back for a couple of cans. For every eFile Form 1 I’ve done since then, I call Silencer Shop and for $15 they send me a set of prints on a card which I mail in after getting the e-mailed cover letter to put with the prints.

I’ve heard that you now have to be buying something from Si Shop to get set up on a kiosk with picture & prints, so they may be tightening up. Maybe check your nearest dealer with a kiosk to see what the latest deal with them is. YMMV.

And SiShop does it again....they pulled a similar stunt when 41F was going into effect. I have no use for those guys. Not one bit.

It took me 6 hours to get the first eFile F4 done and it was a complete pain in the ass. System crashing over and over, boxes not populating once filled in, and the pay box didn’t open up due to a pop up blocker on my computer.

“I’m from the Gov’t and I’m here to help you” are the scariest words ever heard!!!
