G3K Build?

That turned out really nice. ;)
Did you consider parkerization?

Tony
Thanks Tony. I have considered parking but I don't have the ability in my little shop to do it at this time. Soon though...

I know an @Elkaholic that does it on his Kitchen Stove.
And to think, HE IS NOT MARRIED :)

I Loved the Park setup that Vector had.
Man they could do a lot of AK's, HK's and UZI's
(When they could get the Welders off working on the Rock Crawlers)

You can parkerize pretty easy. I built a park tank from PVC with a water heater element in the bottom. It works great and take up little room. It has lasted about 7 years now. It can parkerize an entire barreled receiver.

Park is, in my opinion, hands down the easiest and best finish for home builders and shops alike.

Its almost idiot-proof, takes minimal equipment and is relatively inexpensive. A gallon of concentrate goes a long way and if you take care of it will last you a long time.

It also makes a really nice "base" for other finished. Namely underneath Moly-Resin and Cerakote

I'm not an expert but I think thats how factory G3's were finished. At least early ones? @ 4;58 mark

I will have to look into parking more. I typically use a baked on teflon coating, it takes 2.5 hours from start to finish doing the baked on coating. The reason I like the baked on is because during the baking process, it "cooks" in to the metal and when it's gets scratched, the metal remains the same color as the coating due to the coating baking into the pores of the metal.
I guess I could save a lot of time if I parkerized the builds, especially the G3 and Cetme C builds since that's the way the factory finished theirs.

Hi Klaus, Would mind sharing your formula via private message?

Brown Santa just delivered a nice present...

I know the magazine isn't necessarily correct but I really like the looks of the steel G3 mags. I had Jeff paint two bodies.
Yes, I know the grip screw is missing, I'm going to sift thru all the bubble wrap but I have a couple spares in my stash anyway.
I work weekends and have to wait until next Wednesday to shoot it. Ugh.
Jeff does nice work!
