Why are people hating on the UMP's so much?

I dig mine. My biggest complaint is the trigger that was once described as "like using a staple gun". Made me laugh.
I bought an Omega, it gave me a lot of trouble at first but I ironed everything out (with no help from Omega) and it runs well.
I SBR'd it early this year so I have a real stock on now. Turns lots of heads at the range.

How about you treat us to a pic of it. Congrats on getting a fine weapon system that you get to enjoy.

I love my UMP and have had no problems with shooting it. It seems like all the fuss in comparison to the MP5 is when its not in semi mode.

I think that these are excellent subguns--- semi or full. ;)

It couldn't possibly be that a plastic blowback gun with a huge bolt sucks to shoot.

Expectations were high. Execution was good. Blowback was obsolete in 1950.
I for one love my ump. Its definately not perfect but then i think its flaws help me to use it in a manner more compatible and consistent with them. I dont use it when i need a small gun or mag, and tbh its size helps me to shoot it well. I dont use the iorns beyond 15 to 20 yards they are no good at distances beyond that anyways so i use my red dot reflex sights like my hendsolt rsa and aimpoint t1 on it.

IMHO a blowback action is tamed pretty easily with a counter mass or redirected recoil impulse al la kriss. Taking those approaches in conunction with a b&t like hydraulic buffer would be even more easier to shoot and if the ump had evolved in those directions the hate would abate considerably.

Also wake up people, the roller lock action has also been called dated and old fashioned but it works, so then does the blow back action type as there are only so many ways to safely cycle a bolt.

The major ump drawback imho are its sights which are one polymer cost saving measure too far IMHO and I am not alone in that assessment. Also its big blocky mags which help dictate the guns girth do it no favors and its a fact they could be alot trimmer i.e cz scorpion evo, B&T apc9, and AC unity mp5 mags to name a few.

I don’t understand the fuss either. It’s a good gun, got two in .45 and one in 9mm. It’s very light until loaded and blowback while a bit dated, works well. No probs with the CZ Scorpion.
However, in FA the MP series makes a substantial difference in holding on target. Semi, not so much.
If only there was an MP5 in .45ACP. That would rock both worlds.............
