HK Walnut and Steel

I need to clean up the handguard, I've got greasy handprints all over it but here it is.
I'll be honest, I dont like the scope on it. They look better with iron sights IMHO.
I"m a bit disappointed in my buttstock, I should have given it one or two more coats of stain.
I got close though.

That turned out great. 😲

While not an original idea, I never tire of seeing this iconic combination. Kudos to Karl Nill and everything John Downey does to preserve those cold war era specimens. Here is one of John's handguards on my C93P.

Let's see what you have
How can I get a couple of sets of these made for my 93 and my 91??

Ridgerunner,

Wood G3 furniture is a direct bolt on to the HK91 chassis. The G3 buttstock will also fit the 93 with no mods required.
The G3 handguard does need to be shortened though to fit the 93. John Downey's modified handguard fit like it was built in Oberndorf.
If you dont think you're one for sanding and staining he could probably refinish any set you find. Just be aware that he does have a day job and it will take a while.
Definitely worth the wait IMHO.

And in case you were curious;

The HK plastic buttstock with end cap weighs 353 grams.
A wood G3 buttstock with end cap and screws weighs 342 grams.

Feel better? I know I do.

Looks like HKParts got a batch of decent wood buttstocks recently.
However G3 wood handguards are probably as rare as those laminated, Brit L1A1 handguards now.

Too modern?

Yes, I guess. The legendary HK trigger makes accuracy a challenge for me. I've never been a very good shot anywhooo.
Here's a sample of my hundred yard bench shooting. That's a nice, tight, 20 inch group, right? :ROFLMAO:

I'm not concerned enough with it to pursue a trigger job though.

That Waterlox was indeed easy to use "once I got the hang of it".
Built up quickly, was a nice project for a tenderfoot like me.

The grouping would still be effective on a target--- precision sniper shooting is not always needed. ;)
Or the scope may not be adjusted correctly. :giggle:

Scope is good. I started on the right target then moved to the left side.
Last four shots were bulls. I'm not too ashamed.

How's this for some Walnut & Steel?
My Dad got it for me for Christmas in '81 or '82. It was a kit.
CVA Hawken, 50 cal.
I want to get one of those Pedersoli Brown Bess muskets some day.

I was looking at Basspro page and thinking this yesterday.
