I've seen it time and time again with forums. When the business model primarily becomes advertising, in the long run it directly affects the integrity of the site. It's the same with most modern media that has ad sales as a business model. The difficult thing is, with sites like this, it can be incredibly hard to find alternative ways to monetize, and operating costs are usually ever-increasing.

I'm intimately familiar with the cost and time involved in creating sites like this, as I've done it before. That's why I, as a member, am more than happy to put a few bucks into the site when things like paid membership, swag, etc. are options that are offered. I would hope more registered users would be encouraged to do the same.

Just like everything in life. Something comes up new, it's neat and cool, someone else takes it over, gets greedy and it goes to hell.
 
We have something really great here. WE “ALL” are on the ground floor of a great site that needs to be fully supported in every way… specifically more members.
I for one would support a “Group” buy of something HKPROSHOP specific with some revenue going towards the site.
we have FFL’s/SOT’s here that are super knowledgeable and could come up with something innovative… perhaps even a custom build… we have builders as well!

Whatever it takes!

I can think of one gun forum that went to " hell in a hand basket" and turned into a cesspool, that forum was started by a small group of refugees that were members of another gun forum, that they got banned from or didn't like where that forum ended up as.........so they started their own gun forum with the mantra;

"it's about the AK not money"

and proudly displayed that saying right on their forum.............. didn't last too long before they took that saying down and it became;

it's all about the money not the AK.

I was also banned from there. This place is 10X better anyway, offtopics are key IMO.
